Calcium Carbonate use in Water Treatment
Grounded calcium carbonate is used in the treatment of drinking water. Water at the point of entry to the treatment plants may be acidic.
The above condition may be due to the natural geological conditions at the site, the type of material found in the local rock or as a result of pollutants discharged along the course of the water.
Grounded calcium carbonate is used to neutralize acidic water at the point of entry of the plant. The untreated water is passed through a filter bed which is filled with grounded calcium carbonate. The carbonate dissolves in the water and neutralizes the acidic effect.
